Meet Me Tonight in Atlantic City

Unfortunately for me, the state of New Jersey required me to spend a few days in Atlantic City in order to take the Bar Exam.

I found the town quite sad and consistent with Springsteen's take on the city, despite the fact that Bruce's song Atlantic City is 30+ years old.
I woke up early on the first day of the test in order to exercise and get the brain juice flowing.
I don't think it helped, but it did give me the opportunity to take these sunrise photos over the AC boardwalk.  Enjoy.
(P.S. I nearly always write about Cape May but do reserve the right to venture up the coast (usually to Wildwood, but today a bit further) when the spirit moves me.  Please allow the digression.)

Bringing Back Sign of the Day

The Chalfonte's Magnolia Room
I used to post a photo of a Cape May sign once a week.  I think I will bring that tradition back, and post the sign each Monday.  Your sign of the day today, as you can see, is taken from the Chalfonte -- "The Magnolia Room" -- which is the name for the Chalfonte's dining room.  Highly recommended for breakfast.  And since I'm featuring the Chalfonte today, here's a bonus photo of Dot and Lucille, taken last week. They look great!

World War II Tower Provides Beautiful CMP Views

Alexander Street Jetty From the WW2 Lookout Tower

I had the opportunity to visit the World War II Tower, a/k/a Fire Control Tower Number 23, late last week.  I have looked at that tower 1000s of times and wondered what it looked like inside and what views it provided from the top.  Well, now I know!  I have included a few photos I took so that you can see the views, too.

Hopefully I will give the blog a new look in the next few days, as the current presentation is about two years old and counting.  We shall see.

Lastly, I apologize for the lack of updates over the last two weeks. I was preparing to take the New Jersey Bar Exam and studying became my one and only priority during that time. I am a long-time attorney in Florida but that doesn't mean I can just become an attorney in New Jersey. Nope.  Had to take the New Jersey Bar Exam so as to become a licensed NJ attorney.  Let's hope I only have to take it once!

Dave Mason and New Jersey Memories

A couple of things for Monday...

First, don't miss Dave Mason tonight at the new Convention Hall at 8pm.  Reasonably priced and I hear he puts on a great show. Dave was in Traffic with "little Stevie Winwood" and others.

Next, check out this great blogpost featuring the Cape May Lighthouse and also this blogpost about the Painted Ladies of Cape May. The author of both blogposts is a Jersey girl born in Summit.  She also has followed my blog for quite awhile so it's about time I feature her blog New Jersey Memories here; her blog is chock full of great photos, which you can see at the two specific posts I've featured and the rest of her blog.

Finally, here's a Dave Mason video of him doing his most famous solo song, We Just Disagree:

One of the great new traditions in Cape May is the weekly showing of great popcorn movies on the beach on Thursday evenings.  Tonight, don't miss Jurassic Park! The show starts at 8:30pm right around the Convention Hall area.

CMP hosts Women's Lifeguard Competition on Wednesday - pressofAtlanticCity.com: Lifeguard Races

The AC Press reports on 3 lifeguard events this week that are ladies only -- one of the events takes place tomorrow at Cape May Point.  Sounds like a fun event to check out! And don't miss the magician tonight at the new Convention Hall -- 7pm. Fun for kids and adults.

Thar she blows!

You will find whales and dolphins just off the beaches of Cape May.  I have seen dolphins many times just tens of yards from the beach, but you can see them even more closely if you ride the Cape May Whale Watcher.  I have heard nothing but great things about this private business in the harbor; click here for tickets!  As always, I endorse because I like. I am not paid and never have been for my blog posts.

#2Do2DayinCapeMay

If you've been following this blog a while you know I like Twitter despite its stupid name.  For the rest of the summer, I hope to tweet each morning with a description of a few events for that day in Cape May. I will use the hashtag: #2Do2DayinCapeMay.  I like the rhyme although I may shorten the hashtag eventually.  You can see today's tweet of things to do (go see a show!) at this link:

Have a good weekend!  And check out my twitterfeed: @capemayblogger on Twitter. Become a follower! It's fun and I will recommend many other people you should follow if you love Cape May. So it's a Win-Win!
